Reading Month

I can't believe it is almost March, and time to dive into Reading Month!!

For the past three years, my little school has been participating in the One School, One Book program. I can not sing this programs praises enough! Not only does it bring our school community together, it also puts quality books into our students' homes.  It has become so successful that in the past month we have had students and parents begging to know what this year's novel will be.

On the first school day of March we have a huge kick off celebration, and give each family and school employee a copy of the novel. Each night a chapter is assigned for the families to read together. All of our Reading Month activities (calendar to follow soon) revolve around the previous night's chapter.

 This years novel is. . . . .

"The Indian in the Cupboard"
By Lynne Reid Banks

I can't wait to share with you the school-wide activities we have planned. It will be a whole new ball game, creating classroom activities to accompany the novel that are geared towards Kindergarten.

Any fun suggestions??
